# OneStar

> OneStar (onestar.sh) is a review analysis tool for apps and games. It reads public reviews from the App Store, Google Play and Steam and reports what people love, why they leave, what they ask for, who is saying it and how that changes over time. Every number links to the reviews behind it. It is not related to other products or companies named OneStar.

Key facts:
- Covers the Apple App Store, Google Play and Steam, matched into one product per app or game.
- A report reads at most the newest 500 App Store reviews in each country it covers and up to about 30,000 of the newest Google Play reviews, so on a busy app it can cover recent weeks rather than the full history. Each report states its sample and dates. Pro and Max accounts can connect App Store Connect or Play Console to read their own app's reviews in every country, with their history and developer replies, and reply to those reviews from OneStar.
- Each review is read by Jev, a language model built for typed judgments, against a fixed question set: sentiment, the main complaint or praise category, severity, product aspect, feature requests, whether the reviewer left, and reviewer tenure.
- Counting, trends and percentages are done by code, not the model, so figures are exact and reproducible. On Max reports and OneStar's public reports, an LLM also writes short passages about those counts, such as the Reading; every figure and quote in them is filled in by code.
- Low confidence answers go to a visible unsure bucket rather than being forced into a category.
- Author names are never read, personal details are removed and only short excerpts are stored.
- Public reports are free to read without an account. A free account opens every section of shared reports except the version table and runs a few reports a month. Paid plans add the full analysis of your own reports, asking any question of a report's reviews, competitor comparison, daily, weekly or monthly tracking with alerts by email and Slack, replying to your own app's reviews, use from an AI assistant over MCP (in beta), and written analysis with counted reasons inside each top theme on Max.

- An App Store and Google Play review analyzer (https://onestar.sh/app-review-analyzer): search any app by name, yours or a competitor's, and read its complaint and praise themes with their shares, why people leave, what they ask for, the trend and audience splits. Nothing needs connecting.
- A Steam review analyzer for game developers (https://onestar.sh/steam-review-analyzer): English Steam reviews read as recommended or not, split by playtime at review, with review bomb days flagged and refunds counted as leaving. Steam reviews carry no game version, so patches are read through the weekly trend.
- Two Steam guides with Steam's own review counts per week or month: how to tell a review bomb from a real problem (https://onestar.sh/guides/steam-review-bomb, with one page per case under https://onestar.sh/guides/review-bombs/) and what a patch did to a game's reviews (https://onestar.sh/guides/steam-patch-reviews). A review bomb day is one with at least 20 reviews and more than 5 times the median day; what the reviews in it name decides whether it was about the build.
- A way to reply to App Store and Google Play reviews (https://onestar.sh/reply-to-app-reviews): on Pro and Max, an owner connects App Store Connect or Play Console (Play Console in beta) and answers reviews of their own apps from one inbox, sorted so reviewers who say they are leaving come first, with the theme Jev found in each review and saved replies matched to it by code. Replies are written by the owner; OneStar does not generate or send them automatically. Google's API lists Play reviews from the last 7 days and limits replies to 350 characters. Alerts, new reviews at chosen star ratings and connection problems can post to Slack.
- An MCP server for Claude, Codex, Cursor and other MCP clients (https://onestar.sh/mcp), in beta on Pro and Max: the user connects their assistant to their OneStar account at https://api.onestar.sh/mcp and signs in with OAuth. The assistant can read the user's reports, search the reviews behind them (stored excerpts of at most 200 characters), start reports, refreshes and Asks, add categories it drafts and audience lenses, track or stop tracking a report, compare reports and save comparisons, and keep dated private notes on a report. Every run that spends reviews needs an estimate first and the user's approval in their client, counts against the same monthly allowance as the app, and stays within per connection caps. Jev still judges each review and code still counts; the assistant reads the results. OneStar receives tool calls, never the user's prompts or the assistant's replies. A connection cannot delete, publish, reply to reviews or change billing.
- Forms for your own app (https://onestar.sh/feedback), on Pro and Max: a quick reaction, an NPS question, a poll, a survey or an open feedback button on the owner's own site or app, or on its own page by link or QR code. Code counts the answers, each share with its 95% range, and keeps them next to the product's store reviews without mixing them into store figures. Written answers can be read as a report with themes that line up with the reviews; past the plan's monthly answers, answers are still stored and counted and themes wait for the next month. Nothing is stored in a visitor's browser before they answer, and contact details are kept only when a form asks for them. - An alternative to Appbot and AppFollow (https://onestar.sh/alternatives, https://onestar.sh/alternatives/appbot, https://onestar.sh/alternatives/appfollow) for one person or a small team: a free plan, paid plans priced for one person (https://onestar.sh/pricing), reports anyone can open down to the review, replies to your own reviews and Slack alerts. Unlike those tools, OneStar does not write AI replies or automate them, translate reviews or integrate with Microsoft Teams, Discord or Zendesk, and has no team seats yet.

OneStar Feedback puts a short form on an owner's own site or app: a quick reaction, an NPS question, a poll, a survey or an open feedback button.
