Use OneStar from Claude, Codex or Cursor
Connect your assistant to your OneStar account and ask about your reports in plain words. It can search the reviews behind each number, start a report, a refresh or an Ask once you approve the estimate, and keep dated notes for you. Jev still judges the reviews, and code still does the counting.
- Pro and Max, in beta
- Every spend starts with an estimate in reviews
- Disconnect any time in Settings
Things to ask once it is connected
Under each prompt are the OneStar tools your assistant calls to answer it. Reading tools spend nothing. Tools that spend reviews wait for an estimate and your approval.
"What do people complain about most in my latest report?"
Your assistant finds the report and reads it one section at a time: complaints, praise, leaving, requests and the trend. The shares are the ones the report shows in OneStar.
- list_reports
- get_report
- get_report_results
"Show me reviews from people who say they are quitting over price."
Filters on what Jev found in each review return stored excerpts, 25 by default, with Jev's answers beside each one, and it can page on from there.
- search_reviews
- get_review
"Run a report on Headspace's App Store and Google Play reviews from the last 90 days."
It finds the app, gets an estimate in reviews and starts only once you approve. Then it waits on the run and reads the results when they are ready.
- search_apps
- estimate
- create_report
- get_run_status
"Ask my report whether reviewers think the last update made sync worse."
Ask judges each review for or against the statement and counts both sides, the same Ask the app runs, with quotes on each side.
- estimate
- ask_reviews
- get_ask_results
"Add a category for complaints about the home screen widget and count it."
Your assistant drafts the category's name and description. Jev judges each review in the report against it and code counts, like a category you add in the app.
- estimate
- add_categories
"Note on this report that 4.2 shipped the sync fix on Oct 20."
Dated notes kept with the report and private to your account, so the next conversation can read what you decided and when.
- add_report_note
- list_report_notes
"Track this report weekly and tell me what a month of refreshes would use."
The estimate shows the schedule and about how many reviews a month the refreshes would read. Tracking starts once you approve, and each refresh comes out of your allowance like one you schedule in the app.
- estimate
- track_report
"Add a feedback form to this app."
In your coding assistant, with the project open: it finds the framework, drafts a OneStar form, adds your local site with test mode on and pastes the snippet. After your test answer it checks the install, then shows what publishing would do and waits for you.

- publish_form
"Show me this week's written answers to my NPS form and draft a reply to the lowest score."
It reads the answers and the Forms inbox, with the words people wrote marked as their own. A reply shows how it would reach the person, by email or in the widget, and is sent only once you approve it.

- list_feedback_inbox
- preview_reply

"Compare my app with its closest rivals and save the comparison."
Your assistant finds the apps people compare yours with, then puts your reports on them side by side on one set of themes, with the differences that pass a significance test. Saving the comparison reads no reviews.
- suggest_competitors
- compare_reports
- create_comparison
It can also tell you how many reviews your month has left, look up any app on the App Store, Google Play or Steam, suggest its competitors, read your alerts and tracked reports, put reports side by side, and read a public report. New to OneStar reports? The review analyzer page shows what one covers.
Connect your assistant
Every client uses the same address, https://api.onestar.sh/mcp. The first time it connects, it opens onestar.sh in your browser: sign in, check the client's name and what it asks to do, and approve.
Claude on the web and Claude Desktop
In Settings, open Connectors and choose Add custom connector. Paste this address, then connect and sign in to OneStar.
https://api.onestar.sh/mcpClaude Code
Run this once, then type /mcp in Claude Code to sign in. --scope user makes OneStar available in every project.
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user onestar https://api.onestar.sh/mcpCodex
Add the server, then sign in from your terminal. Adding it to ~/.codex/config.toml by hand works too.
codex mcp add onestar --url https://api.onestar.sh/mcpcodex mcp login onestar[mcp_servers.onestar]
url = "https://api.onestar.sh/mcp"Cursor
Open the install link, or add OneStar to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in one project). Cursor asks you to sign in the first time it connects.
{
"mcpServers": {
"onestar": { "url": "https://api.onestar.sh/mcp" }
}
}VS Code
Open the install link, or run this. VS Code asks you to sign in the first time Copilot uses OneStar.
code --add-mcp '{"name":"onestar","type":"http","url":"https://api.onestar.sh/mcp"}'Another MCP client works too if it can connect to a remote server over HTTP and sign in with OAuth. Give it the address above.
Your assistant reads OneStar's list of tools when it connects, so tools added in an update show up once it connects again. A connection also keeps the access you gave it, so to let one read your forms, sign it in again and tick Read your forms. In Claude Code, run /mcp and sign OneStar in again.
Nothing spends reviews without an estimate
A report, a refresh, an Ask, a new category or lens, or tracking a report goes through the same three steps, whichever assistant asks for it.
- 01
An estimate
Your assistant asks OneStar what the run would read: about how many reviews, and how many your month has left. The estimate spends nothing and stays good for 10 minutes.
- 02
Your approval
The tool that starts the run is marked as one that changes things, so clients that ask before such tools ask you, with the app and the review count in the request.
- 03
The same allowance
The reviews come out of your plan's monthly allowance, the same pool as the app. OneStar checks the allowance again when the run starts.
What confirmation does not guarantee: the approval happens in your assistant, and OneStar cannot see it. If your assistant is set to approve every tool call, or you tell it to go ahead without asking, it can start runs without stopping to check with you.
Some limits hold either way. A run starts only with an estimate from the last 10 minutes, and never past your plan's monthly allowance. Each connection also has its own caps: reviews a month, the largest single run, and runs and Asks a day. A new connection may use your whole monthly allowance unless you lower its cap in Settings.
What OneStar sees, and what your assistant gets
The same rules as every report apply: reviewer names are never read, raw review text never touches disk, and personal details are removed before anything else sees the text.
Tool calls, not your conversation
OneStar receives each tool call and what it needs to run it, such as a filter, a statement for Ask or a note. It never sees your prompts or your assistant's replies.
Excerpts go to the assistant you picked
Results carry counts and review excerpts of at most 200 characters, the most OneStar stores, and never reviewer names. They go to the company behind the assistant you connected, under its terms. OneStar does not choose or pay that company.
Form answers only with your say
Reading your forms is its own permission, unticked until you tick it. With it, your assistant reads what people wrote in your forms, marked as their words; contacts and names never leave OneStar.
A log without the text
Each call is logged with the tool, the outcome, how long it took and the reviews it reserved, never the text sent or returned. The log is deleted after 90 days.
Notes stay private
Notes on a report never appear on a shared page or in an email. They are part of your account export and are deleted with your account.
What a connection can and cannot do
Connecting needs Pro or Max and a verified email. These are the limits during the beta.
| Limit | Pro | Max |
|---|---|---|
| Connected assistants at once | 3 connections | 10 connections |
| Tool calls a day, all connections together | 1,000 calls | 5,000 calls |
| Reviews a month, shared with the app | 5,000 reviews | 25,000 reviews |
A connection reads your reports and alerts, searches their reviews, compares reports and saves comparisons, starts reports, refreshes, Asks, added categories and lenses (and counted reasons on Max), tracks or stops tracking a report, and writes notes. With access to your forms, it reads them and their answers, drafts forms, sets their sites and test mode, and publishes a form or replies to an answer after you approve. It cannot delete anything, make a report or form public, see contacts, create secret keys or webhooks, upload a CSV, connect App Store Connect, the Play Console or Slack, reply to store reviews, or change billing. Those stay in the app.
Review search returns 25 excerpts by default and pages on from there. A note holds up to 2,000 characters, and a report keeps up to 200 notes.
What is the OneStar MCP server?
A way to use OneStar from an AI assistant. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard Claude, Codex, Cursor and other assistants use to call outside tools. Connect it once and your assistant can read your reports, search the reviews behind them and start new ones after you approve. It is in beta.
Which plans include it?
Pro at $19 a month or $190 a year and Max at $49 a month or $490 a year. A free account reads public reports and runs reports in the app, but cannot connect an assistant.
Does it cost extra?
No. Reviews a connection spends come out of your plan's monthly allowance, the same pool as reports you run in the app. Reading reports, searching reviews and getting an estimate spend no reviews.
Does my assistant judge the reviews?
No. Jev, OneStar's review model, answers the same questions about each review and code counts the answers. Your assistant reads the results and writes about them, and when it drafts a category, Jev still judges each review against it. The numbers it reads are the ones the report shows in OneStar, so you can open the report and check anything it tells you.
Can it reply to reviews?
Not to store reviews: those replies stay in the OneStar inbox, written and sent by you. With access to your forms, it can reply to someone who answered one of your forms, after it shows you how the reply would arrive and you approve. A connection cannot delete anything, make a report or form public, upload files, connect stores or Slack, or touch billing.
Can it add a feedback form to my app?
Yes, on plans with forms. Ask your coding assistant to add a feedback form: it drafts one, lists your local site with test mode on, adds the snippet for your framework and checks that a test answer arrived. Publishing shows the version, the questions and where it takes answers, and waits for your approval. The developer docs have a page on it, with a snippet for your AGENTS.md.
Is OneStar listed in Claude's connector directory?
No. Add it as a custom connector with https://api.onestar.sh/mcp. The same address works in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other MCP clients.
How do I disconnect an assistant?
In Settings. Each connection shows its client, when it was last used, and its calls and reviews over the last 30 days. Disconnecting stops it at its next call. OneStar emails you when a new connection is made, and disconnects one that has gone unused for 90 days.
Can a review tell my assistant to do something?
Review text and form answers reach your assistant as quoted data, marked as someone else's words, but an assistant can still be swayed by what it reads. Anyone can answer a public form, so this matters most there. Every start, stopping a tracked report, publishing a form and replying to an answer need a fresh preview and your approval, the caps on each connection hold whatever the assistant does, and a connection has no tool that deletes anything or makes it public.
What does beta mean here?
Tool names, limits and caps may change while we learn how people use it. If something breaks or is missing, write to support@onestar.sh.
Ask about your reviews from the assistant you already use.
Start with Pro, run a report on your app, then connect Claude, Codex or Cursor with the steps above.
