Reply to App Store and Google Play reviews from one inbox

Connect App Store Connect or the Play Console and your reviews land in one list, sorted so the reviewers who say they are leaving come first. Each review shows the problem Jev found in it and the saved reply that fits, and your answer goes out through your own developer account. New reviews and alerts can post to a Slack channel.

  • Through your own App Store Connect or Play Console
  • Your words, from saved replies you wrote
  • Slack on Pro and Max
How it works

From a connected store to an answered review

One key per store. Nothing to install in your app.

  1. 01

    Connect your store

An App Store Connect key with the Customer Support role, or a Play Console service account with Reply to reviews. OneStar encrypts the key before it stores it.

  2. 02

    Open the inbox

Reviews from both stores, read live. Who to answer first puts reviewers who say they are leaving on top, then the most severe problems, then the lowest stars.

  3. 03

    Reply

Write it, or start from the saved reply OneStar offers for that review. Send with one click, or Command and Enter, and the inbox moves to the next review waiting.

  4. 04

    Hear about the next one

After each refresh of your tracked report, new reviews at the stars you pick post to Slack with a button that opens them in the inbox.

The inbox

What you see before you answer

The inbox sits on top of the report OneStar keeps on your app, so a reply starts from what the review is about. The review analyzer page shows what that report covers.

  • The whole review

Title, text, stars, country, app version and date, read from the store each time the inbox opens. The text shows on your screen and is never stored.

  • What Jev found in it

A review your tracked report already judged carries its theme, its severity and whether the reviewer says they are quitting, cancelled a paid plan or got locked out. Opening the inbox asks Jev nothing new.

  • The saved reply that fits

Tag each saved reply with the stars and themes it is for. The inbox offers the one that matches the review, with the app and store names filled in, and you edit it before it goes out.

  • Where your reply stands

Pending until Apple publishes it, then published. Replace a reply whenever a fix ships, and delete one on the App Store.

  • Who is still waiting

My apps shows each app's reply rate and how fast you answer, and an alert fires when at least 5 reviews at 1 or 2 stars from the last 30 days have waited more than two days, at most once a week.

  • Both stores in one list

An app on the App Store and Google Play is one product, so its reviews from both stores sit in one inbox you can filter by store, stars or text.

Slack

Review alerts in the channel your team already reads

Connect a channel in Settings, choose what it gets and, if you like, which apps. Messages quote excerpts of up to 200 characters, the most OneStar keeps, and link straight to the review.

New reviews

After each refresh of a tracked report, the reviews it read for the first time, lowest stars first: an excerpt, the store, country and version, the theme Jev found, and a Reply in OneStar button. Pick the star ratings each channel gets.

Alerts

A theme that spikes, a possible review bomb, a drop in the rating of new reviews, a theme share that moved, a reply backlog, and gaps that moved in a tracked comparison.

Connection problems

If App Store Connect or the Play Console stops answering, the channel hears it with the fix, the same moment the email goes out.

Set per channel

Each channel keeps its own choices: which of these it gets, which star ratings and which apps. A test message goes out before a channel is saved, so a wrong webhook never sits there silently.

Replying well

How to respond to app reviews

Four habits that hold whatever tool you reply from. Where a rule comes from Apple or Google, their help pages are linked below.

Start with the reviews that cost you users

Low star reviews that name a concrete problem, and reviewers who say they are quitting, cancelled or got locked out. The inbox sorts them to the top for this reason.

Answer what they wrote

Google asks for replies that are clear, valuable and truthful and that directly address the user's comment, and it does not allow promotion in a reply. A reply that names the reviewer's actual problem reads like it came from a person.

Promise only what has shipped

Name the fix and the version it is in. When a fix lands later, update the reply: Apple shows one response per review and marks an edited one as edited, and Google lets you edit a reply at any time.

Write it to fit in 350 characters

Google Play limits a reply to 350 characters. A saved reply written to that length works on both stores, and the reviewer on Play gets a push notification and an email when it goes out.

Store rules

What each store lets you do

Apple and Google set these rules for every tool that replies through their APIs. OneStar shows them in the app too, under Store limits.

StoreWhat the inbox readsReplying
App StoreThe newest 400 reviews, or the newest 400 without a reply, in every countryUp to 5,970 characters. Apple publishes a reply within about a day. One reply per review: sending again replaces it, and you can delete it.
Google Play (beta)Reviews written or edited in the last 7 days, as far back as Google's API lists themUp to 350 characters, published at once. Replying again edits the reply; Google's API cannot delete one.
What OneStar keepsExcerpts of up to 200 characters in reports, never reviewer namesThat a reply was sent, when, by whom and its length. Never the text.
Fair warning

What it does not do

OneStar does not write replies or send them on its own. Every reply is one you wrote or picked, which keeps your voice and keeps a model from promising a fix you have not shipped.

Alerts go to Slack and email only. There is no Microsoft Teams, Zendesk or Discord integration, no review translation, and one seat per plan.

If replying at volume with automation is the job, Appbot and AppFollow do more of it. The Appbot and AppFollow comparisons go row by row.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

Not connected to a store? Any app's reviews can still be read as a report with the App Store and Google Play review analyzer.

Replying after a bad week? Start with the rating drop checklist, then the reply templates for each complaint.

Can you reply to App Store reviews?

Yes. Apple lets developers respond publicly to App Store reviews in App Store Connect, under Ratings and Reviews, for anyone with the Account Holder, Admin or Customer Support role. One response per review appears on the App Store, you can edit or delete it, and it can take up to 24 hours to appear. From OneStar, connect an App Store Connect API key with the Customer Support role and the same reply goes out through Apple's API under your developer account.

How do I reply to Google Play reviews?

In Play Console, open Ratings and reviews, then Reviews, with the Reply to reviews permission. Google allows one public reply per review, you can edit it at any time, and the reviewer gets a push notification and an email. From OneStar, replies go through Google's API for reviews written or edited in the last 7 days, which is as far back as the API lists them, up to 350 characters. Play Console connections are in beta.

Does OneStar write replies with AI?

No. OneStar never drafts or sends a reply. Jev judges each review, and on Max an LLM writes a short line on why a review sits near the top of the inbox, but every reply is written and sent by you.

How do I get App Store and Google Play reviews in Slack?

Connect a Slack channel in Settings and choose what it gets: new reviews at the star ratings you pick, alerts, and connection problems. New reviews post after each refresh of a tracked report, so a daily refresh posts once a day. A first report never posts, since it reads a backlog rather than news.

Does Slack work for competitor apps?

Yes. Alerts and new reviews post for any tracked report, competitors included. Replying needs your own store account, so the inbox and the Reply in OneStar button are only for your apps.

What does OneStar store about my reviews and replies?

Reports keep excerpts of up to 200 characters and never read reviewer names. The inbox reads the full review and your reply from the store while it is open and stores neither; OneStar records only that a reply was sent, when, by whom and its length. Store keys and Slack webhooks are encrypted before they are stored and never shown again.

What does it cost?

Replies and Slack come with Pro at $19 a month or $190 a year and Max at $49 a month or $490 a year. Pro tracks 5 reports and Max 25. A free account runs reports on any app with no card, and public reports open without an account.

Answer the reviews that cost you users first.

Start free and run a report on your app. Upgrade to Pro when you connect your store to reply and turn on Slack.
