An AppFollow alternative for indie developers and small teams

AppFollow is a review management and ASO platform for support and app teams, with reply automation, an AI support agent, translation, keywords and charts. OneStar is built for one developer or a small team who wants to know what users complain about, love and ask for. It reads the reviews of any app or game, yours or a competitor's, and opens every number down to the reviews behind it. On Pro you can also reply to your own App Store and Google Play reviews from one inbox, get alerts in Slack and connect Claude, Codex or Cursor to your reports. Both start free; OneStar Pro is $19 a month, against $129 for AppFollow Essential billed annually.

  • Free plan, no card
  • App Store, Google Play and Steam
  • Replies, Slack and AI assistants on Pro
The short answer

Which one fits

AppFollow covers more ground: reply automation, support integrations, translation and ASO, and its free plan already includes replies and ASO tools. For a team that needs those, it is the better buy. AppFollow facts below are as listed on appfollow.io/pricing, checked October 12, 2026.

Pick AppFollow if

  • You reply to reviews at volume and want an AI support agent or automated replies.
  • Reviews feed a support stack such as Zendesk or Discord.
  • You also need ASO tools: keywords and top chart rankings.
  • Your players also talk on Discord, Reddit or Trustpilot, or you ship on Microsoft, Xbox or Amazon.
  • Several people work the reviews, or reviews in many languages need translating.

Pick OneStar if

  • You want a full report for less than a team plan: Pro is $19 a month, and AppFollow Essential is $129 a month billed annually.
  • You work alone or in a small team and want the report and the reply inbox in one tool, priced for one person.
  • You want to answer your own App Store and Google Play reviews with what each reviewer complained about in view, and get the new ones in Slack.
  • You look at many different apps, a report at a time, rather than a fixed set of sources.
  • You want numbers you can open down to the review, with the answers the model was unsure of left in view.
  • You want Claude, Codex or Cursor to read your reports and start a run only after you approve its estimate in reviews, with limits you set for each connection.

How OneStar works

What reviewers are telling you, then the reply

Jev, a model built for typed judgments, answers the same questions about each review in a sample: is there a complaint, which theme, is the reviewer leaving, are they asking for something. Code turns the answers into shares, trends and audience splits, so the same reviews always give the same numbers.

When Jev is not confident, the review goes to an unsure row that the report shows, and every share opens the reviews it was counted from.

The reply inbox shows each review of your app with the theme, severity and leaving signal Jev found, sorted so the people about to go come first. Saved replies are offered where their stars and themes match, and you write or pick every reply that goes out.

On Pro and Max you can connect Claude, Codex or Cursor to your account. Your assistant reads the same reports and the reviews behind them, keeps notes on a report, and can start a report, a refresh, an Ask, a lens or a custom category your own model drafted, or track a report. Before anything starts, OneStar returns an estimate in reviews for you to approve, and Jev still judges each review.

OneStar does not write or automate replies, translate reviews or track keywords, has no Discord or Zendesk integration and gives one seat per plan. If those matter more than the report, AppFollow is the better tool.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

More on replying to reviews and Slack, or see the Appbot comparison.

Can OneStar reply to reviews like AppFollow?

Yes, for your own apps on Pro and Max. Connect App Store Connect or the Play Console (in beta) and reply from one inbox; each reply goes out through your own developer account. There is no AI support agent and no reply automation.

Does OneStar integrate with Slack?

Yes, on Pro and Max. A Slack channel can get alerts, new reviews at the star ratings you pick and store connection problems, for your own apps and for competitors you track. Discord and Zendesk are not supported.

Is OneStar cheaper than AppFollow?

OneStar Pro is $19 a month or $190 a year, and AppFollow lists Essential at $129 a month billed annually. Both have a free plan. AppFollow's plans count sources and include ASO tools; OneStar's count reviews read and tracked reports.

Can I use OneStar from Claude, Codex or Cursor?

Yes, on Pro and Max (in beta). Connect any MCP client to your account and it can read your reports, search the reviews behind them, keep notes on a report, save comparisons, and start reports, refreshes, Asks, custom categories and lenses or track a report after you approve an estimate in reviews. Reading costs no reviews; what it starts counts against the same monthly allowance as the app, under limits you set for each connection. AppFollow has an MCP server too, whose calls spend API credits, as checked October 24, 2026.

Does OneStar do ASO or keyword tracking?

No. OneStar covers reviews only: the report, comparisons, tracking with alerts, and replies for your own apps.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. A free account gets 3 report runs a month of up to 500 reviews each and 1,500 reviews a month in all, with no card. Public reports open without an account.
