Baldur's Gate 3
Paid: Steam purchases countAlready at the top label. Down one label to Very Positive: about 14,481 negative reviews in a row.
Steam's label follows the share of positive reviews. Store pages show Mostly Positive from 70%, Very Positive from 80% with 50 reviews, and Overwhelmingly Positive from 95% with 500. A paid game counts only Steam purchases, and a big game shows each player the score in their own language. The more reviews a game has, the more positive ones in a row it takes to climb a label, which is why a fix shows in the 30 day score long before the lifetime one.
Steam shows two scores on a store page: the last 30 days and the game's lifetime. Both use the same labels. Under 10 reviews there is no label at all, and below 40% (Mostly Negative) Valve says a game is less likely to be featured. At Mixed or above, Valve says the score is not a factor in how the store's algorithms show a game.
| Label | Positive share | Reviews |
|---|---|---|
| Overwhelmingly Positive | 95% or more | 500 or more |
| Very Positive | 80% or more | 50 or more |
| Positive | 80% or more | 10 to 49 |
| Mostly Positive | 70% to 79% | 10 or more |
| Mixed | 40% to 69% | 10 or more |
| Mostly Negative | 20% to 39% | 10 or more |
| Negative | Under 20% | 10 to 49 |
| Very Negative | Under 20% | 50 to 499 |
| Overwhelmingly Negative | Under 20% | 500 or more |

Steam's own counts and labels for 11 games, read once a day, counted the way the store page counts them. The step under each game is computed from the bands above. The bands predicted Steam's label for 22 of the 22 scores on this page today. On Slay the Spire 2, Monster Hunter Wilds and Overwatch®, English readers see a different label from the overall score.

Each new review moves the share by less as the count grows. A game just under Very Positive at 50 reviews is a handful of good reviews away. The same share at 100,000 reviews needs thousands more in a row. That is why the recent score exists, and why a fix shows up in the last 30 days long before the lifetime label.
| Reviews so far | Positive reviews in a row to reach 80% | Negative reviews in a row to fall under 70% |
|---|---|---|
| 50 reviews | 5 | 6 |
| 200 reviews | 20 | 23 |
| 1,000 reviews | 100 | 115 |
| 10,000 reviews | 1,000 | 1,143 |
| 100,000 reviews | 10,000 | 11,429 |
Steam tells you how many reviews are negative. A OneStar report on a game reads its reviews, sorts each complaint into a theme with a likely range, splits them by hours played and marks review bomb days, and every number opens the reviews behind it. Tracked on Pro, it alerts you by email or Slack when a theme spikes. Start from the Steam review analyzer.

Ten. Under ten reviews the store page shows no label, and Valve states the ten review floor in its post on language scores. Very Positive also needs 50 reviews and Overwhelmingly Positive needs 500, so a small game at 85% shows Positive until its fiftieth review.
80% positive with at least 50 reviews. Mostly Positive is 70% to 79%, and Overwhelmingly Positive is 95% with at least 500. Valve does not publish these bands; they are what store pages show, and the live section on this page checks the labels its games sit in against Steam's own each day.
Since August 18, 2025, a game with more than 2,000 public reviews and at least 200 written reviews in one language shows players the score from reviews in their primary language. Players can switch back to the overall score in their Store preferences.
No. Valve counts only reviews from accounts that bought the game on Steam and played it. Reviews from keys still show on the page, marked, but they do not change the score. A free game's store page counts every player's review.
Not from inside the game, and never for a reward. Valve's review rules say not to ask customers to review from within your application and not to offer games, DLC, money or other rewards for reviews. Sending a copy to press or creators for coverage is the exception Valve names.
Off-topic review bombs do not. When Valve marks a burst of reviews as off-topic, about something other than the game, Steam shows those reviews less and leaves them out of the score. Reviews about the game itself, even an angry wave, count as usual.
