Built for Google Maps

Made for how Google reviews work

A Google rating counts every star tap, and many have no words at all. A report reads the reviews that do, and sets what they say beside the score.

  • The score beside the words

Google's own rating sits next to the stars of the people who wrote a review in the report's window, with the gap in plain words, so a 4.5 with a growing complaint still shows.

  • Who will not come back

Visitors who say they will not return count toward why people leave, and the complaints they name are counted with them.

  • Owner replies

Reviews the owner answered are split from the ones nobody answered, and the place's card says how often and how fast it replies.

  • Changes over time

The weekly trend shows each complaint's share as it moves, so a new menu, a renovation or new management shows up when it happens, and tracked places alert you when a theme jumps.

  • The reviewer's own words

When Google shows a review translated, OneStar reads the words the reviewer wrote. Each report lists the languages its reviews were in.

  • Google Maps and Tripadvisor together

A place listed on both, under the same name in the same town, is matched into one place, and each site's score is shown on its own.

    The Tripadvisor review analyzer

Every tab of a report opens on a free account. Tracking, alerts and the deeper figures on each tab, such as audience splits and the detail inside each theme, need Pro.

Place themes

Themes written for places

Place reviews are read against their own list, so a long wait, a dirty room or a closed exhibit is counted as what it is instead of landing in a generic bucket. A review that fits none goes to other or unsure, and both stay visible.

What visitors complain about

Each complaint gets one main theme, and the report also counts every other theme a review mentions.

  • Food and drink quality
  • Staff and service
  • Wait times
  • Cleanliness
  • Price and value
  • Booking and reservations
  • Rooms and comfort
  • Location
  • Parking and access
  • Noise and atmosphere
  • Attraction experience

What visitors love

Praise is counted the same way, so you know what to keep while you fix the rest.

What a Google Maps report reads, and what it leaves out

A report reads a place's newest Google Maps reviews, up to its report size, and says how far back it reached. On a busy restaurant or landmark that can be a few weeks rather than years.

Many Google ratings are stars with no words. They count in Google's score but give a report nothing to read, so a report reads only the reviews with text, and its count of reviews read says how many that was.

Reviews are read from the place's public Google Maps listing. There is no Business Profile to connect and nothing to install, which is also why a rival's place works as well as yours.

A free account gets 3 report runs a month of up to 500 reviews each and 1,500 reviews a month in all, with no card. Pro is $19 a month or $190 a year and adds every figure on every tab, tracked places with alerts by email and Slack, Compare and Ask the reviews. Max is $49 a month or $490 a year for larger reports, more tracked places and written analysis. See pricing.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

Every place with a page on OneStar is listed in Places, with its ratings and public reports.

Reviewing a company rather than a place? See the Trustpilot review analyzer.

Working on an app or a game instead? See the App Store and Google Play review analyzer or the Steam review analyzer.

Can I analyze a place I do not own?

Yes. Google Maps reviews are public, so any restaurant, hotel, shop or attraction with reviews works, yours or a rival's, with nothing to connect. On Pro, Compare puts two to four places side by side on the same themes, each with its own score.

Do I need to connect my Google Business Profile?

No. OneStar reads the reviews anyone can see on Google Maps. It does not connect to Business Profile yet, so it cannot post replies to Google reviews for you.

How is this different from the Google rating?

The rating counts every star tap over the place's whole life, most of them without words. A report reads what the people who wrote a review say: which complaints and praise they name, who says they will not come back, how it changes week to week and whether the owner answers. Two places with the same rating can be failing for different reasons.

Does it read reviews in other languages?

Yes. Reports read reviews in the language they were written in and list the languages they read. The themes were checked on English reviews, so figures from other languages deserve a closer look at the quotes behind them.

How many reviews can one report read?

Up to 500 reviews on Free, 5,000 on Pro and 25,000 on Max. A place report reads the newest reviews with text and says how far back it reached.

Does a hotel get the same themes as a restaurant?

Every place is read against one list, so rooms, food, staff and booking problems each have their own theme and a museum's closed wing is counted under the attraction itself. A place that has no rooms simply has no room complaints.

Can it read the same place on Tripadvisor too?

Yes. A place listed on Google Maps and Tripadvisor under the same name in the same town is matched into one place, and a report can read both, with each site's score shown on its own.

Can I ask about a place's reviews from Claude, Codex or Cursor?

Yes, on Pro and Max, in beta. Connect your assistant to OneStar over MCP and it can read your place reports, search the reviews behind them and start a refresh once you approve an estimate in reviews.
